I got another huge ass phone charm XD Me and Bryan were at a bubble tea place downtown and they were selling them for like $2 in those gumball machine things that you see at pmall. They also have them at Maki Maki. So, he got me one and it just happened to be the one I wanted out of the three in the machine. There's a white bunny, a pink bunny, and a monkey. I was hoping I wouldn't get the monkey because I didn't like it as much. Ahah.

I really like big phone charms.

Yeah, it's bigger than my phone.

Birthday... last month. lulz.

Sunday, October 18, 2009

I got the idea from Rheena for writing my blog posts on Word when I don’t have internet. I’m on the bus right now by the way. I don’t have to wait to get internet at home to write my blog posts!

Caaaaaaake!

So over a month later, I finally get to this post. Procrastination on social life yayyyy... Anyways from what I can remember (lawl), my birthday was pretty awesome! I had a separate party with my family and a separate one with a few high school friends. I didn’t wanna do anything too big this year for my birthday this year although I did turn 19 and am legal now yayyy. I didn’t want to do anything crazy like clubbing or just getting drunk for the heck of it? I’m not really a fan of clubbing after my first experience over the summer. Ahah. With drinking, I don’t even like the taste of alcoholic drinks so why bother. But then again maybe I haven’t tried an alcoholic drink that I really like? It's not like I’m not gonna go searching for it though. lulz.

Anyways... with my family I just did whatever we usually do, have “eating time,” “cake time” and “present time” at my house. Don’t know what else to say about it. Ahah.

I have a lot of cousins. More on the other side of the table.

We also celebrated my aunt's birthday. We didn't have another cake for her so we made one out of her cupcakes and candles that spell Happy Birthday =]

With my friends, I decided to eat out with them for lunch at my favourite type of restaurant... ALL YOU CAN EAT SUSHIIII! MUAHAHAHA! XD Surprisingly, almost everyone I invited came except for people who had work or didn’t reply? It was like a reunion because I hadn’t seen most of them for a while. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the money to treat all 7 of them who made it to the lunch so I didn’t care if they didn’t get me anything since they already paid money to celebrate with me. Oh yeah, and I came a bit early to get the big table and felt like an idiot waiting for like half an hour on my own, because people decided to come in like 20mins late, which I should have saw coming. I’m never coming on time to a hang out ever again! XD jks. The sushi was veryyy good and the service wasn’t bad because there weren’t that many people at Umi at the time. The service is soooo horrible when they are busy!

People who didn't come AS late. yayyyyy...

Bryan posing with Kris's glasses

Had to cut Lizzeh out because she wasn't looking and her eyes were like half way open LOL

It's all good. I got another pic with her =] ... and yes, I wore the same thing I did for Christmas. My $4 top. Muahaha.

Afterwards I invited everyone over to my house for ice cream cake yummm. I was planning to just get everyone to bus there, but instead we all walked! It wasn’t that bad actually. I forgot how long it took, but it didn’t feel that long because I had friends with me.

I secretly got a pic of everyone walking behind me... except Katherine was looking XD. I like how her and Kris are popping out behind Johnruss... They're also the same height as him LOL

Muahaha

Bryan and Andrew. lawl.

Abby and Kevin met us at my house. They couldn’t make it to sushi because Abby had work. So for the rest of the night we played Rock Band, played Brawl (duh), had a laptop party, ate ice cream cake, and a bunch of other things =]

Laptop partyyyy

Rock Band

Only one where our faces looked somewhat normal.

LOL Andrew

Not too much partying. School the next morning for most of us. Ahhh...
I just realized everyone was wearing black except for me and Katherine, who dressed up nicely for me yayyyy ^^

Best people everrrr!

There's this thing with ladybugs...

Thursday, October 8, 2009

I was going up the elevator in the library today. There was this bug that looked like a black fly or a bee that wouldn't keep still and got everyone's attention. It finally stopped and just rested at the top of the ceiling. "Awww... It's a ladybug," this girl said.

I just saw my uncle message my brother saying how he saw a ladybug walk across his car windshield on Oct 5.

How often do you see lady bugs in the Fall? or in any season?

On the friday after the funeral...i went to the pound to see the car and gather any other belongings that was left there. As soon as i saw the car i started breathing heavily, and placed myself in a dark corner...reliving the nightmare, from sec.to sec...and hour to hour. Finally my mother had picked me up and we were on our way home. To cheer myself i played "waiting in vain"- bob marley...and it actually worked a little. Shortly after, a Lady Bug flew onto my window and i felt you. And it was strong. Weird... lady bug? right?..don't ask why, i just did. I was a little relieved too.

A couple of days later...i was at home, looking at your beautiful pictures..feeling as sad as always. I dropped one on the floor...boom! A Lady bug at the edge of the carpet. "Huh"...kinda confused at the time, but again i was somehow relieved. At this moment i was scratching my head..whispering "Dorothy?."

Days later, I went to visit your gravesite at the cemetary. You looked beautiful as always. I bent down on my knees/closed my eyes to pray and talk to you. Mentioned how much i love you, miss you, feel you...and... to take care of us. I open my eyes, there you were again....a Lady bug, in between the "V" and the "O" of your last name. "Ok..Ok..i get it, babe, you're here," i said with a ear to ear smile.

Coincidence...i guess??
Beautiful...always.
Symbolic...yeah.
Dorothy...what do you think?

- Darrell

She is still watching over us.

Review: Clean and Clear Night Cream

Monday, September 21, 2009

Believe it or not, but I have a list of products on my itouch that I have used and would review on my blog, when I'm bored or have nothing to blog about when I feel like blogging. So I thought I would actually go ahead and start something from there.

So I will be reviewing the Clean and Clear Soft Oil Free Moisturizer - Night.
I got this for free at some Christmas party a long time ago, but didn't start using it til a couple of months ago.

Short story. I was in the wash room and I saw this Clean and Clear daily facial scrub that was probably one of my brothers, so I thought I would give it a try just for that day. My face turned red... and stayed red. My face got all these random dry patches everywhere X_x. I swear it was like eczema on my face or something. It didn't really go away until my sister was like "Oh you should use my night cream." (which was not the Clean and Clear one by the way). It was this brand called Pur that's only at Shoppers Drug Mart and their line is a lot cheaper. The next day, there was such a big improvement on my skin! So then I thought that maybe I should use night cream often.

I decided to start using the Clean and Clear one I had at home.
It works okay for me.
  • If you put too much of it on your face, it'll start rubbing off into little balls and you cannot blend it back into your skin or anything.
  • Sometimes it burns my skin a bit after I wash my face or get out of the shower. I don't have sensitive skin.
  • I sometimes get small dry patches on my cheeks and this moisturizer doesn't do that much to help it.
  • It stings my eyes. No, I did not put it in my eye. If I put this anywhere around my eyes, they sting a bit!
  • The packaging looks fine, but it looks exactly like their day moisturizer. So, that would be a problem for people who own both products in case they accidentally reach for the night one to use during the day. On the bottle for the night moisturizer, it says that it will increase the risk of sun burn if used during the day. So yeah. That sucks =]
I give this a 2/5? I guess. I'm not good with ratings! XD
I would definitely not buy this I can say for sure.

I think I am about over half way through the bottle. I was planning on just using all of it up and then moving back to the Pur one because I don't want to waste it even though I got it for free. Buuut I don't really want to use it anymore! lol

I guess my skin isn't very good with Clean and Clear.

My first actual amigurumi yayyyyy. It took me two days to complete this. Uhhh I don't remember how long I worked on it for each day. I got the pattern online here. Mine definitely doesn't look as nice as the example there, but I still am quite proud of myself =]

I didn't have the same colours as the tutorial so mine sorta reminds me of Superman!
I'm hoping become better and make more awesome ones for Christmas =] I better get started now D: They take WAY longer than scarves.

(8) Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo...

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

I don't think I have ever watched so many movies within 1 month for a looooong time. It would usually be like one movie every couple of months, mostly because there weren't really any movies that I was interested in... or maybe because I never heard of them in the first place since I don't watch tv!

Ponyo

I watched Ponyo about over a week ago with Katherine because we are Miyazaki fans! yayyyy. Yes, we were fully aware that Ponyo was meant for younger kids. In fact, we were pretty much the only teenage looking people in the theatre! We were surrounded by little kids and their parents. lulz. We felt a bit awkward when the ending theme song came up. (8) Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo! Tiny little fish! Oh my.
Oh yeah. I never realized how convenient the dollar store can be for the movies. We fully bought our pop corn and drinks there because we like the white cheddar pop corn better AND it's a lot cheaper =]

I think the movie was pretty good, although it was obviously not my favourite Miyazaki film. I found that there were some random parts that weren't exactly explained or seemed necessary. I would just be like Huh? Also, I didn't really feel like there was much of a climax when I felt that there was supposed to be. I guess it's because I was expecting more action. But all the action I saw in the trailer was already done earler in the movie xP On the bright side, I still think his imagination is insane! XD

The Ugly Truth

I watched this with my sister, my brother and my mom last weekend, just for the heck of it I guess. This movie was sooo funny. It's pretty much all sex jokes! XD Thank god they didn't spoil all the jokes in the trailer, which I hate by the way. I don't know what else to say about it. I recommend it =]

The Time Traveler's Wife

Oh my god. This movie was sooo good! I watched it today with Nikko, who I hadn't seen in over a year. Wow. I never read the book or looked at any reviews for the movie before watching it. And I'm pretty sure I never watched the full trailer. So I really had no idea how this movie would be for me, but I loved it! The storyline was amazing. The actors were amazing. I loved how Claire as a kid actually looked like a younger version of Rachel McAdams. Yeah, I was crying by the end of the movie even though I tried holding it in. Ahhhh... Nikko kept teasing me afterwards! ;___; The movie also left me this weird feeling at the end that I hadn't really felt from a very good movie for a looong time. I felt so dazed out for a while after getting out of the theatre! I would totally watch this movie again.

Packages

Tuesday, August 18, 2009

I've gotten a few packages from the last couple of weeks because of certain contests I won and I thought I would share with you guys =]
I was soooo happy and thankful for being able to win these contests! I got really excited everytime my dad handed me a package saying "I don't know what this is." I'm surprised he didn't ask why I got a package from the US and from the UK!

Anyways, I shall do this in the order I received them.

MOONBEAMSTARLIGHT
So a while back I won Ling's contest (aka. moonbeamstarlight on youtube) for doing this magical theme look.

And I won...

So here Ling sent me a make up brush bag that she made herself, which is the blue starry sparkley bag =] I think the material is so cute! I didn't realize that it was that glittery also. For a second, I thought that she used sparkly paper to write her note but then I realized that it was just the glitter from the bag. Ahah. She also sent me a Clinique bag which is really big! It fit all my beauty products when I went to Buffalo for a weekend.

This is the Hello Kitty eye shadow palette by H&M. I noticed that she uses this palette in a lot of her videos, which is probably the reason why she's giving it as a prize. I didn't even know that H&M sold these type of things. I did not realize how sparkly the eye shadows were until now. I would have totally used this for my DragonPalace88 entry.
I was very excited about getting the Glam Crystals Collection 2000 Eyeliner because I don't think the brand is even available in Canada and I heard they're really good from Ling of course. Ahah. There's a bunch of different colours but the one she gave me was silver. I'm glad I got the silver one because it can basically go with any outfit, though I do wanna see the other colours as well XD I did a swatch on my hand when I got it. Very pretty and sparkly =] ... and again I would have totally used it for my DragonPalace88 entry! D:

Ling is also a huge Hello Kitty fan so she sent me this Hello Kitty egg. It's almost like a Kinder Surprise! XD It came with a little Hello Kitty toy, Hello Kitty stickers, and candy. Yummm.. The toy was so cute and so small. I didn't want to lose it so I put it in my make up brush holder.

Can you find her? D:

Ninjatown desktop yeahhhhh.

Besides these items I also got a small Mango body butter tub, a Juicy Couture perfume sample (which is like a mini spray bottle!), a small tub of Vitamin E moisture cream, a L'Oreal true match sample in N4 (it's not that off from my skin tone, I'm N3 =]) and a bunch of samples.
Thank you so much Ling!!! =]
Subscribe to her on youtube! Her channel is moonbeamstarlight.

NEXT!

23 CRYSTALS
I already posted about winning the 23 Crystals contest a while back and I finally took pictures of the new necklace I got from them.
So just a little recap. We had to send in a picture doing the '23' for their August 2009 Cuties Contest and my entry got chosen =] I did it with my sister while I was in Californiaaaaaa.

And I won...

Yayyyy =] The necklace is from their Cuties Collection.. thus the name of the contest. So prettyyyyyyy. I already got compliments on it.
So comparing it to my other necklace, it is smaller but it still looks great just on its own.

My collection will probably get a lot bigger in the future... when I have money XD. I decided to mix and match with my other necklace for fun.

Yes, I am using their awesome note paper as the background.

I cannot enter in the next one for September and it's my birthday month too =( Ahah. It's all good. There will be more in the future >=] So, go follow 23 Crystals on their blog and join their group on facebook! They have more awesome swarovski jewelry for cheap prices and will be hosting a giveaway every month. You still have a chance to enter for the September 2009 Cuties Contest!

Thank you again Anne and Toots!

Lastly,

DRAGONPALACE88

At the beginning of August, I won DragonPalace88's Contest called "Eye of the Dragon" for doing this look.

I am very happy that I won because I put so much effort into designing and creating this look. A few things I was stuck on for the design were the scales and the claws. (Which is why you might notice that when I show the design on the video it wasn't completely finished. Ahah) I wanted to be happy with every choice I made. Then one day, I came across this picture where someone did a snake look and she had scales on her forehead and cheeks. On the description she said she used fishnets. I thought that idea was brilliant! I youtubed it, and she's not the only person that has done it before. So I decided to borrow this technique. It worked perfectly =]
For this contest, the winner was chosen by votes. There were only about 5 or 6 entries for this contest. I was sooooo happy seeing that almost all the votes were for me! I really don't remember how many votes there were. I think over 50? I might be completely off, but I know that there were like 3 votes for other people. But still... I was sooo happy! XD Thank you to those who did take the time to vote and support me.

I won....

I really excited so I opened them already before I took the picture.

Sonia Kashuk products! I am very happy because I don't think Sonia Kashuk is available in Canada either. She sent me them in this really awesome envelope, which is the background of that picture! It's so rad. I love it!
As you can see, I got some Sonia Kashuk lashes. I usually only wear false eye lashes for dance competitions so my mom buys the thicker ones. But these ones I think I will use for special occasions because they look more natural looking =] I can probably use them in any future tutorial contest entries.

This is the 5 piece brush set that comes in the little white pouch. Perfect for travel! It has a litte mirror inside and there are even labels for the brushes on the inside. It's very cute =]

Lastly, this is the eye shadow quad called "Smoke in your Eyes." I find the name funny for some reason. Ahah. I LOVE the packaging for Sonia Kashuk. I haven't tried it yet, but the eye shadows seem well pigmented.
Thank you so much for hosting this contest DragonPalace88! (Your real name is very unique =] )
Go subscribe to her! XD

Because we're on the topic of packages, I did receive the photos from the Fever photoshoot I was chosen to be in. I was going to post about the photoshoot when I did receive the pictures so then there would be something to show you, but unfortunately, they told us that we're not allowed to post the pictures on facebook or anything =(. This made me really sad because I really wanted to share with everyone T_T. We took so many pictures, but in the end they only gave us a few. I got like 9 pictures. They said if we wanted more we would have to order them from the photographer. My mom and I are curious to see what the others looked like so we might email them back to see and hopefully order.

Brush holder

Thursday, August 6, 2009

I know a lot of people do this to hold their brushes using a glass cup/jar and beads. But I just found a random jar at home and used all the extra paper stars I had to fill it. It actually works very well! The smaller stars would probably work better for this rather than using the more larger ones. I just stuck a random ribbon from my debut on it to give it a nice finish =] Ribbons yayyyy.
These are obviously not all the brushes I have. Just the ones that I would normally reach for everyday and aren't double ended. I keep the rest in one of the drawers.

I got this idea after looking at this jar of stars I made last year. I ended up putting a bouquet of fake flowers I got from Bryan last year in it. Yes, fake flowers. But hey, they don't die =] The random white thing on it is a paper ring he made out of a bus transfer! Ahah. I ended up keeping it.

I know you love the blowing hair affect >=] (My fan was on)

I love making lucky stars, especially for other people.

Thank you Anne and Toots! =]

It was announced on their blog here.
I'm so happy I get to own another piece of 23 Crystals! ^^
I can mix and match it with my other one =]

I was able to find time to take a picture with my sister wearing our 23 Crystals necklaces during my little cousin Bianca's birthday party here in California =] She just turned two! I will go into more detail about the party later. It was a good opportunity take the photo because we were both dressed nicely (though you can't even see our dresses in the photo). lololololol i used my sister to win a necklace .... don't worry i told her about it beforehand =]

My posts on my California trip will take a while. Ahah. Sometimes I can't even believe I'm still here, just because so much has happened. I've got most of the pictures on facebook though.
I could have been smart and posted after each day here (if something that would be interesting to you guys happened) but I was lazyyyy. I guess I should start soon D:

Anyways, getting off topic.
We took just two photos but in the same pose. One on my sisters cam and one on my cam. But the one on my sister's cam looked better so I got hers on my laptop and started editing.
Really with photoshop I only know how to do basic things. No major graphics or anything. However, recently I heard about this Chinese photo editing program that is free on someone's blog. The photos that she had looked like they came out from those photobooths in asian places! ahah. So I went and downloaded it. A lil catch is that, everything is in Chinese >.<'' So you can't exactly understand any of the words, but you will still be able to use the program because it is that easy. I played around with the program using the photo with my sister and I, and I came up with some different versions of it.

This is the original

This is the one they liked the best! =]

I'm so happy that all my photo editing during my vacation time did not go to waste.
I'm very thankful that I was chosen for this month ^^
They will be hosting this contest for every month so go follow them on their blog and their facebook group if you haven't already.

Anne and Tootsie are the best! XD
