Harry Potter 6

Friday, July 17, 2009

I watched Harry Potter with Katherine, Prez, Raphael, and Dan... yayyyyyy.
I really enjoyed it even though I heard the book was better and blah blah blah. You know it's always gonna be like that. Anyway, here are some of my thoughts on the movie that I can think of at the moment.

  • There was a lot of talking in this movie and not as much action in comparison to the previous movies. It didn't bother me that much because I didn't know what was supposed to happen anyway. But there were a few parts in the movie where I did expect a bit more action. For example, when all the Deatheaters come into Hogwarts. I felt like there should have been some massive fight or something (which there was supposed to be apparently). They just kinda walked in, broke some windows, killed Dumbledore, and left. Yay.
  • There's a lot of comedy! There's a lot of parts that made me laugh out loud. Some quotes =] (I fully went on imdb.com and picked my favourites >.> which is a lot by the way)
Ron Weasley: How much are these?
Fred Weasley, George Weasley: 5 galleons.
Ron Weasley: How much for me?
Fred Weasley, George Weasley: 5 galleons.
    Ron Weasley: I'm your brother!
Fred Weasley, George Weasley: 10 galleons.

Albus Dumbledore: You must be wondering why I brought you here.
Harry Potter: Actually sir, after all these years I just sort of go with it.

[Romilda Vane and Harry are staring at each other across the library]
Hermione Granger: [snaps her fingers] Hey, she's only interested in you because she thinks you're the Chosen One.
Harry Potter: But I am the Chosen One.
Hermione Granger: [smacks him on the head with the newspaper]
    Harry Potter: Sorry... kidding!

Ron Weasley: What do you think he sees in her?
Harry Potter: She is nice... intelligent... attractive.
    Ron Weasley: Attractive?
Harry Potter: She has nice... skin
Ron Weasley: So you think he is going out with her because she has nice skin?
    Harry Potter: It contributes.
Ron Weasley: Hermione has nice skin.
Harry Potter: I never took the time to notice.

Ginny Weasley: [after kissing Harry for the first time in the Room of Requirement, while hiding his book] That can stay up here too, if you wish.
Ron Weasley: [Next scene, immediately after] So'd you and Ginny do it?
    Harry Potter: [surprised] What?
Ron Weasley: [not knowing that Harry and Ginny just kissed] So, did you and Ginny do it?
    Harry Potter: [pause] What?
Ron Weasley: Did you hide the book?

Professor Minerva McGonagall: [to Harry, Ron, and Hermione] Why is it that, whenever anything happens, it's always you three?
Ron Weasley: I've been wondering that for six years, Professor.

  • It's pretty obvious how there is more romance in this movie and I know some people who have complained about it, but it's not a big deal to me.
  • I did want to see Ron and Hermione together more because most of the time he was just with Lavendar (who is creepy as hell), but I guess I'll just have to wait until the next movie =(

  • Harry and Ginny... OMG I always found them so awkward whenever they were together. They barely talked. They were just like ...Take my hand. ...That was pretty awkward for me. I can't remember a time in the movie where they had an actual conversation. I thought Harry and Cho were cuter when Harry did give signs that he liked her (aka. when he spit out his drink accidentally lololol...). Oh yeah, Harry's and Ginny's kiss was literally a second and nothing special. Her next line was pretty awkward too... I don't know just the way she said it. Harry's and Cho's kiss was better, but the fact that they were just kinda standing there and their arms were just beside them was weird... and awkward. Awkwaaaaard.
  • Luna Lovegood! =] She's one of my favourite characters. Evanna Lynch does such a good job at playing her. Everytime she entered a scene, she just brightened up everything. Apparently, Evanna's personality is actually similar to Luna. No wonder this role suits her so well.

  • I thought the scene when Harry and Dumbledore were in the cave and Dumbledore had to drink all that potion stuff was so depressing. Ahhh... I'm not exactly sure why. I guess it was because Dumbledore was so old and he was getting weaker. When he died I cried ;__; It was so sad. Snape, you bastard T_T.
  • They didn't focus on the Half Blood Prince at all even though it's the title of the movie.
After watching this movie, I felt like trying to finish reading the whole series. I stopped in the middle of the fifth book a loooong time ago. Now I wanna know the things they left out and also what happens next! My goal is to actually finish reading the rest of the books before the 7th movie comes out. I think I can do it. Ahah. I have over a year! D:

Harry Potter! Harry Potter! OOOH! Harry Potter! Harry Potter! Yeah!

Eye of the Dragon

So, there's a new contest by DragonPalace88 that I am planning on entering! Yayyyy... The theme is "Eye of the Dragon" I thought it was a pretty interesting topic so I have already started on a design in my moleskine =]
I can't post up the video here because it was disabled. Click here!

Ever since I won the Moonbeamstarlight contest, I have gained some confidence in entering make up looks. Ahah. And please don't judge me. I am not doing these because I am crazy obsessed with make up or anything. And I don't enter every single contest I see either.
I see creating these looks as art, which is why I put effort into designing and everything beforehand. I see make up as an art actually, especially eye make up... which probably explains why I own so many eye products! Though, I still do know how much is appropriate for everyday =]

Anyways, I already have an idea of what I am doing. I just hope no one's look is similar to mine because there are only so many things you can think of with a dragon theme! I do have an inspiration figure (which will not be revealed until I'm done my video) so I hope no one steals that too! Ahah.

My entry will be posted in a couple of days because I won't be able to make it or post it up towards the deadline.

Until next time.

Typing Maniac!

This game is so addicting and so competitive! I'm number 1 on my list, but I know that there are some REALLY crazy people at this game x_X. Katherine told me that the highest on hers is over 800! Yeah, I doubt I'd be able to get that high.

I think I'd be a lot better at this game if I didn't have to look at the keyboard when I type words I'm unfamiliar with. Sigh.

Wind and Ice YEAH!

swarovski & sushi

Friday, July 10, 2009

So about two days ago I had sushi with my friends =] It originally meant to be a small all girls thing to celebrate Katherine's birthday (which was in April btw) but people *cough*Abby & Lizzh*cough* were all like Why all girls??? So a couple of guy friends (more like everyone's boyfriends lawl) were invited as well.

My supercool card made out of construction paper >=]

Because Katherine's birthday was such a long time ago, I have been holding onto her gift for quite some time. I know that she is a swarovski lover. She got me swarovski earrings for my debut! So when I was at Blue Mountain for one of my dance competitions, I came across a jewelry store that had a sale and everything in their store used swarovski crystals. It was my first time going to a swarovski store that wasn't the actual Swarovski brand. It surprised me that some of their items were so much cheaper than the actual brand store so I obviously had to get something! I ended up getting something for me, Katherine and my mom (for Mother's day). Ever since then, I have become more of a fan of swarovski =] I wasn't able to take a pic of Katherine's gift earlier because they gift wrapped it for me. I had to crop this out from another photo that day. It was the closest to showing the whole thing because her hair covered it completely in the rest of the pictures ahah.

It's Hello Kitty shaped swarovski earrings.

Pretty much for the rest of the sushi lunch...

Jackie was in pain every time she smiled
(she got her wisdom teeth removed)

Lizzeh became Tai from Digimon

Chantal and Abby were too slow for me and my camera >=]

Bryan smiled with his teeth

Katherine and Kris were a tree

Abby secretly hated Katherine

Bryan expressed his love through green tea ice cream. Yummy =]

I think I got WAY too full quickly because Jackie and Lizzeh were smart enough to go through every single item on the list and ask who wanted whatever at the very beginning when we were all very very hungry. Not smart. A few hours later I started craving sushi again =( Sushi, why you taste so good? x]

Last time.

Thursday, July 2, 2009

I am officially done competitive dance for this year and possibly for the rest of my life.
I had three year end shows, but it really felt like I only had one. The first two shows I didn't dance much in because it included all the recreational dancers (aka. non competitive dancers) so most of the audience for that show came to see the rec dancers. A lot of people from the audience left after their kids were done all their routines for the show and did not stay to watch the rest. The audience that was left over were pretty dead. Even though I was the one performing, I was so bored. It just felt like another stage rehearsal.

I was so excited for the last show because the show only included the competitive dancers. So, basically everyone that wanted to watch a friend that's a competitive dancer went to that show because they would be dancing more often in that show. Also, all the routines in the show are a lot stronger than the previous shows because they were all competition routines. Everyone's parents, family, and friends were there. My family was there and even some of my aunts, uncles and cousins! I was really happy that they came because they never really came in the many years before. But because this year was my last year, most of them came. Same thing with my friends! Lizzeh, Abby, Bryan, Kevin, and Naoki all came to watch my show and it really meant a lot to me. I never invited friends to watch my recitals before because of the prices of the tickets sometimes and also the location. However, they all came even though the theatre was like a 40 minute drive.

I was able to see them for a bit before the show started and they got me a gift! Well, actually Abby gave me a gift on behalf of everyone else. Ahah.

Chocolate!

chocolate <3

It's huge o__o

And they got me this cute clock! Thanks guys =]

All the dancers in the senior company knew that we would all be a mess at the end of the show because a lot of us aren't competing next year because of school. However, tears started quite early because Melissa wrote everyone cards and made us read them before show! x_X

I really can't explain much about how the show went other than that it was amazing. At the very beginning the audience was so loud and everyone back stage was so excited. I had a lot of fun.
A few times before certain dances, some of the girls in the senior company got all teary again, even in the first Act. I didn't start until maybe the end of the second Act right because we were just about to do our last competitive dance. When the finale came, everyone was all messed up, even dancers that weren't in the senior company. My sister told me that my mom started crying when she saw the mini dancers in the finale dancing because they reminded her of me when I was little.

a while after the show was done... we're still crying. lawl.

My family gave me flowers =]
I'm really not sure if I am going to compete next year. I've been telling myself that it is impossible because my grades will suffer and won't exactly be able to hold a job at the same time. I know my teachers will probably convince me to come back another year when I take classes at the beginning of the year, but if that's the case I'll only be able to do a few dances.

But for now, I'm gonna miss all of it.

a little bit of choreo...

Wednesday, July 1, 2009

My two random shows that I have mentioned on an earlier post went very well

The first one which was for The Music Scene was a lot of fun even though it was just a small open house thing and weren't that many people. I think maybe up 30 -40 people? Unfortunately, I do not have pictures from the actual show and I haven't seen any videos yet either. However, we did take some pics after one rehearsal.

yeahhhh...

I can't believe we were able to learn so many routines in such a short period of time. And it's not like they were just simple ones that are easy to catch on to. Kara, the choreographer of the show, would be like Okay, now a little bit of choreo... and it would be a huge ass section x_X I was pretty stressed about remembering all the dances, but we went over them a bajillion times before we actually went on, which helped A LOT.
At the end of the show, Kara gave us all roses and a Starbucks giftcard! She also wrote me a very sweet card saying how she wanted me to be in her dances after she saw me perform at a dance competition. Awww...
Anyways, I'm not done dancing with these people yet. I get to audition two of the pieces we did for next years Choreo show! ... which is not until a couple of months from now, but I'm still excited.

Next!
For the Miss Pakistan World Pageant I wasn't stressed out about because I did one dance whereas everyone else did two and I knew my dance very well. The people there really loved our group. They thought we were so talented and everything.
The stage was so small. So most of the time during our performance we felt like we were gonna fall off the stage. The bright blinding lights didn't help too much with that either. We talked to these singers from Chicago who also performed, and they are interested in getting us to dance in one of their music videos in the future. Yay for connections!

I didn't realize til that day that our group was called Adje. I still don't know what that means.

Oh yeah, one other thing that happened before we performed... There was a whole hallway with these ladies doing make up for all the people part of the show, and we were asked if we wanted to get our make up done too. So we were like why not? The majority of our group got our make up done by these two girls who were at the end of the hall because they were the closest and asked us first. I already had some make up on from my show in the afternoon and the lady told me I did a good job, but she still removed it anyway because she told me she wanted to do a gold look on me. I thought it was a good idea too because it would compliment my skin tone I guess. I couldn't tell what she was doing because there was no mirror or anything around. And then she gave me a mirror after she did my eyes... It was so bad. She extended the eye shadow too high and it was sooo close to my eye brows. It's a bit hard to explain but she also cut my eyes shorter. Like she didn't exactly do my eye shadow with my eye shape. She did not follow my crease or anything xP I even told her that I feel that the eye shadow should extend more on the sides, but then she told me that it will make my eyes look smaller. I don't know. She talked to me as if my eyes were so hard to do because I was asian. I do not have a monolid and it's not like my eyes are really small to begin with. And why was she complaining about my eyes in the first place. If she really wants to be a make up artist, she should be able to apply to any types of eyes? Afterwards, she drew in my eye brows too dark, and made an actual line on my face when doing my blush. I asked her if she was gonna blend it more, and she was like "No, I just contoured your face." But there was a LINE x_X. If she really was contouring my face, it wasn't right because it did not look natural at all. Then for my lips she did them too big and told me that it's my natural lip line. Whatever.
I wasn't the only one who had problems with my make up. Everyone pretty much had something to complain about. It was not until later that I realized that all the make up artists down the hall were wearing the same shirt that said some sort of make up school or company written on the back, except for the two girls that did our make up. No wonder.
We all went back and fixed our make up. I pretty much took off all the lipstick and blush, and redid it myself. I was trying to just fix the shape of my eye shadow with the eye shadows that I brought with me, but I ended up just overlapping it all. There was still a little bit of copper in it though. Oh wells, it went with my dress later on.

We watched the rest of the pageant. We all agreed with the Top 3 Winners. They picked out a judge from a hat and the judge would ask them a question. I was quite surprised with the girl who won the title because she answered the worse

We are quite multi cultural
