After being curious about a certain camera that I saw on Diana Rikasari's blog, I searched for some reviews on it and came across this channel on youtube under DigitalRevCom.
Kai's reviews are so informative and incredibly entertaining at the same time. He really does keep your full attention for the entire video. Maybe it's the fact that he's Asian and has an English accent... I love that lulz.
Anyways, I found the review I was looking for on the Olympus PEN E-PL2.

Soooo pretty.

Usami Kei is a salaryman who has risen in status due to his engagement with Mei, the wealthy daughter of his company's president. Shortly after she breaks off the engagement, a power failure leaves him stuck in the elevator of his apartment building. Trapped with him are three others living on the same floor - Airu, a trilingual interpreter, Ojiro, a model photographer, and Masato, a psychiatrist. While waiting, their conversation hits upon their love lives and the question of whether there is truly only one fated partner for everyone. As a result, they decide to try "shuffling" their relationships with each other.

Literally, finished it in three days. It's a good one to watch if you're looking for a short and fast drama. There are only 10 episodes and they're all around 40mins. I'm glad they weren't afraid to keep it short, because dragging the plot would only make it worse as a whole like what some dramas do. It's a really interesting one to watch and less predictable. A lot of cute and funny moments too =]

You know what's the best thing to watch when you're feeling crappy/bored?

Mameshiba!

Bryan, Quan, and Andrew introduced Mameshiba to be a couple of months ago. I don't know how they came across it actually. Probably from Quan's Japanese girlfriend Yukina.
I remembered it again after seeing T&T selling Mameshiba phone charms in the gumball machine thingys! XD And yes, I had to get one... and then another the next time I went. I want to collect all of them, but what are the chances that one I don't already have will come out every single time? D:

The chick pea and the lentil!
And also my small but growing instant photo blob/whatever shape that is on my wall :D

There are 20 episodes on youtube, but it only takes 10mins to watch all of them because they are like commercials.
I think these two are my favourite mameshiba episodes.

Go watch the rest of them now! :D

i am number four.

Sunday, February 20, 2011

I watched I Am Number Four with my mom and my sister today. We just felt like watching a movie and my sister brought this movie up since she read the book. It was either this or Justin Bieber! Ahahaha. I just want to see the Justin Bieber movie for lololols.
I never heard of the movie or the book until today. Though the reviews for it online weren't amazing, I loved the movie! The storyline is unique to me. My sister seemed to be really happy with the movie as well and wasn't upset about them leaving some parts out as most people are usually when they read the book first. And my sister is a huge book nerd! So that must mean something! :D

I Am Number Four follows the story of John Smith, a 15-year old alien from the planet Lorien, and his guardian, Henri, as they run from the Mogadorians, another race of aliens that are hunting down John and the other eight teenage Loriens, who all make up the Garde, living on Earth. The Garde consists of all Loriens who have special Legacies and powers. The teenagers are protected by a charm, which only allows them to be killed in a set order. John is Number Four. Both the Loriens and Mogadorians have a human appearance.

Another part of the movie I really enjoyed were the photography bits since the female lead, Sarah (aka. girl from Glee), was into photography and used film cameras! In the scene where her and John were looking at her camera collection, I spotted a Diana + right away in the bundle from far away! I felt so awesome for recognizing some of the cameras in that movie for some reason lolololol. I thought it was really cool how Sarah was a "lomographer". It really shows how hardcore her character is with her interest in photography. Apparently, the actress in real life was into photography too. Just seeing film cameras being used for art in a movie inspired me to take more pictures with my diana mini =]

Despite the few scary parts that made me jump in this movie (since I'm the biggest anti-horror movie watcher you'll ever know), I recommend watching it =] I want to start reading this series! There's only one book out though ;__;

my girlfriend is a gumiho.

Tuesday, January 4, 2011

I just finished watching another asian drama lololololololol.

I decided to watch My Girlfriend is a Gumiho. It was a title that I was interested in watching before I found Shining Inheritance and I realized later on that Lee Seung Gi also played the male lead role, sooo I decided to watch it because I really liked him in Shining Inheritance.

One day after Cha Dae Woong ran away from his grandfather, he accidently freed a nine-tailed fox who was closed in a painting for about 500 years. He didn't realize what he has done, until the Gumiho (nine-tailed fox),who took the form of a beautiful woman, appeared in front of him. Dae Woong was really frightened that he ran away from her and fell on the riverbank.Since he was severely injured, Gumiho came to save him and gave him her most precious bead to share with him the mystic fox' strength, as she owes him her freedom. Gumiho then asked him if he can help her become human and how to act like one. In return, she allowed him to use her bead for him to shoot for his dream action movie despite his body's severe condition. As time goes by, their mutual relationship grew deeper as they start to fall for each other.

A really good drama with a really good cast overall! I love the main leads. They make such a cute couple and there are so many cute moments they have together that really establish such a close bond. Especially the "hoi-hoi"! I caught myself watching with the biggest smile on my face and laugh out loud so many times throughout the drama even though the whole drama isn't completely comedic. I love how Lee Seung Gi gets away with showing off his singing talent in all the dramas he's in so far even though singing has nothing to do with the storyline. It's also refreshing to see a beautiful female lead that doesn't scream "plastic surgery" when you look at her face. I don't know if Shin Min Ah had surgery or not since I know that plastic surgery is very common in Korea, but her look seems so natural that I highly doubt she had anything done. She plays this character so well! I love the vocabulary they give her as a fox. For example, how she describes soda as "bubbly water" and liking the colour brown because it is "the colour of a cow"! On the other hand, when I look at Park Soo Jin, I can't help but wonder what her face used to look like! Her character is so annoying that it makes me wonder why Daewoong would even like her so much to begin with. She does actually remind me of certain people I know unfortunately. Le sigh. When I first saw her in this drama, it took me a while to realize that she was in Boys Before Flowers, but not a huge character. She does play the "bad female" really well though.

So far, this drama and Shining Inheritance are the best Korean dramas I've seen, since the ones I've seen in the past tend to have unfinished or unexplained situations from what I remember. I highly recommend it.

Hoi hoi couple!

I just finished re-watching all 64 episodes of Shaman King, which is my all time fave anime!!! =]
Shaman King was also my first anime I watched without stupid laaame english dubs T_T. Everything before that was probably like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptors, Pokemon, Digimon, etc. (which were still awesome in english... when I was 10). I remember when my brother used to watch Shaman King on Saturday mornings back then. It was more of a 'guy' anime with all the action and fighting so I was never really interested in it, but I still found their voices soooo annoying!
But thennnn I started watching it in Japanese years later after my brothers got burnt copies from a friend and I REALLY liked it! I'm pretty sure from then on I never watched an anime with dubs. Ahah.

Italic
A huge comet circles around the world to annouce the start of the "Shaman Fight" ... a battle held every 500 years that determines the Shaman King. Yoh Asakura, a shaman in training, transferred from a school in Izumo. Choosing the spirit of a legendary samurai, Amidamaru as his possessing soul, Yoh will join the "Shaman Fight".
(taken from one of my Shaman King posters lolololol)

I watched one clip of the dubbed version right after watching one episode of the Japanese version and it was actually HORRIBLE. Their voices were over exaggerated obviously, and what made it worse were the cheesy and lame lines they replaced the original translations with. It completely dumbed down the anime.
Also, their voices pretty much screwed up the original characters. Why does Anna have such a princessy and snobby voice when it doesn't match her dull expression that she has for the majority of the anime? AND Why does Ren, who is supposed to be Chinese, have a freaking English accent?!?!?
K I'm done ranting.

I almost forgot that each episode was only 30mins. I was so used to episodes being an hour long like in asian dramas! Haha. So, it was SUPER easy for me to be like ....just one more episode.... at 4AM.
I highly recommend this anime if you are ever in some crazy fighting action anime mood... which I was in when I decided to rewatch it =]

not that new Shaman King desktop picture!

Kthnxbaiiiii

PS: "funga fufu" is some random thing Yoh kept saying in this one special episode. I have no idea what it means and I don't think it actually means something. Ahah.

I watched Michael Jackson's movie This Is It yesterday with my mom. The theatre wasn't packed or anything so if you're going to watch it you probably don't have to worry about not getting any seats. We got pretty good seats =]

I actually know one of his backup dancers, Daniel Celebre, which is another reason why I went to go see the movie. He used to dance at one of the studios I've danced at in the past. He's actually really lucky to have made it because in the movie they showed bits of the audition for Michael Jackson's dancers and there were soooo many of them who auditioned! And they all were amazing! In the end, only 11 guys and 2 girls made it? I think. Ahah.

I really enjoyed the movie and I do recommend anyone to go and watch it! It would have been an amazing concert and so much work was put into it! You also see a lot of Michael's personality through the extra rehearsal bits that they show. He is really a funny person and it's just a shame he got such a bad reputation when he was alive.

So, Michelle created a billion different Halloween looks that sorta pwned a lot of the Halloween tutorials other gurus made before.. in my opinion at least. All her looks (even normal ones) are so unique and are one of a kind. This Halloween tutorial had to be my favourite! She also includes a special message at the end so watch the whole thing! She's truly amazing.

The video makes me wanna be Sailor Moon again for Halloween XD. I was her when I was like 6? Sailor Moon was technically my first anime and was also my first hero... along with Xena!

I definitely knew all her poses >=]

...Or maybe I just wanna be Sailor Moon as an excuse to try doing the anime eyes Michelle Phan does because it'll only be appropriate for Halloween and anime conventions.

Yeah, I wanna dress up for Halloween, but I have no idea what I should be XD

(8) Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo...

Tuesday, August 25, 2009

I don't think I have ever watched so many movies within 1 month for a looooong time. It would usually be like one movie every couple of months, mostly because there weren't really any movies that I was interested in... or maybe because I never heard of them in the first place since I don't watch tv!

Ponyo

I watched Ponyo about over a week ago with Katherine because we are Miyazaki fans! yayyyy. Yes, we were fully aware that Ponyo was meant for younger kids. In fact, we were pretty much the only teenage looking people in the theatre! We were surrounded by little kids and their parents. lulz. We felt a bit awkward when the ending theme song came up. (8) Ponyo, Ponyo, Ponyo! Tiny little fish! Oh my.
Oh yeah. I never realized how convenient the dollar store can be for the movies. We fully bought our pop corn and drinks there because we like the white cheddar pop corn better AND it's a lot cheaper =]

I think the movie was pretty good, although it was obviously not my favourite Miyazaki film. I found that there were some random parts that weren't exactly explained or seemed necessary. I would just be like Huh? Also, I didn't really feel like there was much of a climax when I felt that there was supposed to be. I guess it's because I was expecting more action. But all the action I saw in the trailer was already done earler in the movie xP On the bright side, I still think his imagination is insane! XD

The Ugly Truth

I watched this with my sister, my brother and my mom last weekend, just for the heck of it I guess. This movie was sooo funny. It's pretty much all sex jokes! XD Thank god they didn't spoil all the jokes in the trailer, which I hate by the way. I don't know what else to say about it. I recommend it =]

The Time Traveler's Wife

Oh my god. This movie was sooo good! I watched it today with Nikko, who I hadn't seen in over a year. Wow. I never read the book or looked at any reviews for the movie before watching it. And I'm pretty sure I never watched the full trailer. So I really had no idea how this movie would be for me, but I loved it! The storyline was amazing. The actors were amazing. I loved how Claire as a kid actually looked like a younger version of Rachel McAdams. Yeah, I was crying by the end of the movie even though I tried holding it in. Ahhhh... Nikko kept teasing me afterwards! ;___; The movie also left me this weird feeling at the end that I hadn't really felt from a very good movie for a looong time. I felt so dazed out for a while after getting out of the theatre! I would totally watch this movie again.

Toodlez~
